User Committee
To realize the economic and societal impact of this research, it is essential that the new knowledge and models are adopted by research institutes, consultants and companies, engaged in coastal (modeling) studies, and coastal authorities with responsibility for coastal management.
Consequently, our approach to facilitating and accelerating impact is to involve these practitioners in the development, testing and application of the new models. Over the past decade the research group has established intensive contacts with many potential users. These contacts are exploited to establish a User Committee from key coastal research, consultancy, industry and management organisations:
Deltares is one of the main research institutes in the world where advanced morphological modeling systems (Delft3D and XBeach in particular) are developed, tested and applied. Deltares also carries out specialized coastal consultancy studies world-wide and advises government agencies (e.g. Rijkswaterstaat in The Netherlands) on best practice, which is subsequently disseminated to other consultants and the wider coastal engineering community.
Rijkswaterstaat is the operational agency of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management and is responsible for, among other things, marine spatial planning and the design of coastal protection measures.
The Hydrographic Service of the Royal Netherlands Navy is the Dutch government office that is responsible for nautical surveying and charting, in order to enable safe navigation at sea.
Arcadisis a well-established, internationally-oriented consultancy firm, with much experience in the application of morphological models for coastal design and analysis.
Royal HaskoningDHV is a well-established, internationally-oriented consultancy firm, with much experience in the application of morphological models for coastal design and analysis.
WaterProof B.V. is a well-established, internationally-oriented consultancy firm, with much experience in the application of morphological models for coastal design and analysis.
Witteveen+Bos is a well-established, internationally-oriented consultancy firm, with much experience in the application of morphological models for coastal design and analysis.
Van Oord is as family-owned company with 150 years of experience as an international marine contractor.
Primo Marine is an independent specialist in subsea cabling and pipeline engineering.
TenneT is a leading European electricity transmission system operator, responsible for overseeing the operation of the Dutch power grid, including connections in the seabed to neighboring countries and wind farms.
