The NCK Days 2024 took place on 13-15 March in Amersfoort. Laura and Carlos presented their current work and engaged in many insightful discussions!

Laura gave an oral presentation on the effects of sand waves on the tidal flow, how these can be parametrised using a form roughness value, and how form roughness depends on sand wave characteristics.

Carlos presented a poster about the application of form roughness parametrisations on a specific region of the Netherlands Continental Shelf and how the values obtained compare with the roughness used in the Dutch Continental Shelf Model.

We definitely learned a lot, and went back to Twente fully energised and looking forward to continuing our research! Laura will continue studying form roughness in a tidal setting and how it affects larger-scale hydrodynamics, and Carlos will continue his MSc Thesis research by exploring the effects of tidal obliquity on form roughness.
